Alex Stavitsky-Zeinnedin believes we are dooming future generations if we do not take care of the environment. We must protect clean water, build up healthy soil, minimize the use of non-renewable energy, and protect ourselves from exposure to chemicals and pollutants.
As an environmental and public health advocate, Alex has been effective in her educational and advocacy efforts in her own neighborhood, the Kentlands, and also at the City of Gaithersburg and Montgomery County levels. Fellow advocate and Kentlands resident Jennifer Quinn and Alex educated their neighborhood about the need to reduce exposure to unnecessary lawn chemicals to protect health.
Alex helped build the Safe Grow Montgomery coalition by getting groups and businesses to join as partners. Alex’s years as a conflict zone television news producer/reporter and news editor was put to use for communication strategy, media outreach, newsletter-writing, and website development.
When not engaged in activism or media projects, Alex teaches yoga and lives with her husband, 2 sons, cat and dog in a (now even more!) walkable community in Gaithersburg, MD.
